a birthday giveaway - CLOSED

Amazingly, we have been blogging for a whole year now. A little over a year since the conversation whilst driving back from a Devon beach in which we decided that it might be fun to have a try at creating a blog together. Neither of us realised just how much blogging would enrich our lives and how many lovely people we would meet along the way. What began as a dialogue between two friends about their crafting endeavours has expanded to include comments and inspiration from crafters all over the world. We really would like to say a huge thank you to all our readers over the past year. Every one is truly appreciated.

Not only is it our blogging birthday, but this week we reached the dizzy heights of 100 followers. 101, in fact. Two friends, two crafts, two cities and now two fantastic reasons for a giveaway. It goes without saying that we have for you two prizes, one from each friend and one for each craft.

From Laura:

A copy of The Knitted Home. Recommended in the latest issue of Mollie Makes, this book is filled with lovely things to make for your home (including several crochet projects). Personally, I'm very taken with the tea cosy and matching mug cosy! Also included in the prize is a pretty skein of organic wool and some matching vintage needles and buttons.

From Annie:

A copy of Scandinavian Needle Craft, I love the idea of embellishing sewing projects with embroidery and this book looked perfect for that. I have included a fairly random selection of material from my stash and some vintage buttons. All the material is cotton except for the pink spots which is oil cloth.

If you'd like to enter, just leave a comment on this post telling us which prize you'd like to win and letting us know either:

1. Which has been your favourite Nimble Fingers and Steady Eyebrows post so far?
and/or
2. What would you like to see more of on the blog next year?

If you feel like sharing the love by mentioning the giveaway on Twitter, or adding the button in the sidebar to your blog then we'd be most grateful! If you do, pop back and let us know and we'll give you an extra entry.

You don't have to be a follower to enter, but if you'd like to become one then we'd love to have you.

We'll keep the giveaway open for two weeks and draw a winner on Saturday 5th November. Good luck!

Love from,

Annie and Laura

  2. Congratulations on both milestones. It is hard for me choose a favourite post, but I would love to see more about you both and your crafting history.

I would love the Scandinavian Needlecraft book. It is one I have drooled over, but I would take whatever was offered as they are both great prizes.

I look forward to seeing more of you both over the next year!

  3. happy happy birthday. I hope there will be cake, birthdays always need cake. and congrats on the followers too. I've just had lots of fun looking back at some of your posts, how can I possibly choose just one, I am awe inspired by the dress making, drooling over the knitting, reminded that I Must make the beetroot brownies today, and happy to have found your friendship through your blog. (have retweeted your giveaway tweet)

  4. Happy Birthday!

I have just joined and have just spent some time looking through your blog. Such lovely posts, finds and creations.

My favourite was the Brocante (part one). I never knew the possibilities of vintage finds in France and I loved the fabrics and blanket, what a very special find. I have just started my blog and I do love a vintage find. I hope to see more of this on here!

I would absolutely love to win the Scandinavian Needle Craft book.

    Thanks

  6. Congratulations ladies on such a lovely, original and visually beautiful blog. Asking me to choose a favourite post is a little like asking me to choose a favourite child so I won't do that, although suffice to say I love popping into your space to see what letters you have written to each other that particular day. I would be delighted to receive either of your splendid gifts and thank you for the chance.
    Happy weekend.

PS - thanks for putting my giveaway on your blog, of course I shall do the same for you!

I don't really have a favourite post - I am drawn to your blog because the concept is just so unique and that makes it all very interesting.Of course I love seeing what you have both made, but I also love seeing your flea market finds and just hearing about your lives. 10. Congratulations! How can I possibly choose a favourite post, it's so hard but I will pick this one... http://nimblefingersandsteadyeyebrows.blogspot.com/2011/10/moonstone-veylas.html as I LOVE those mitts. Your give away is fantastic, again hard to choose, but I think the knitting book wins. Good luck for the next year, can't think of anything that needs improving!

  11. I think my favourite blog post was Annie's about being proud of her finished Cranford mitts because she'd struggled with them. And I'd been involved with the Cranford KAL too!

Hard to pick between the prizes because they're both gorgeous, but I am definitely more of a knitter than a sewer, so the book, yarn, needles and buttons for me please :D

  12. hi annie and laura, so pleased to have discovered your wonderful blog! my favourite post is the yarn farm. having just spent time in ischia and being about to move to switzerland (as you know annie, from your comment on my latest blog post!), it strikes a chord with me. i'd love to be able to get the train to italy to stock up on lovely yarn (as it's much cheaper than in switzerland!). plus i love alpacas and would love to own one. i even suggested to the bristol knit club i attend that we could buy one collectively. laura, do you know about our knit club? come along if you fancy it! just tweet me @nancyflowers and i'll give you details. also i'm knitting with alpaca at the moment so lots of reasons to love this post.

i would love to win the knitted home and yarn and will tweet about this giveaway in just a minute too.

My favourite post has to be http://nimblefingersandsteadyeyebrows.blogspot.com/2011/08/fruits-of-our-labours.html because I read it right in the heat of jam madness when I was filling every jar in a mile radius with anything I could get my hands on.

  28. Well I'm pretty new to finding you through Twitter (which I'm still trying to get my head around, blogging I can figure out, but as I talk a lot, short stuff flumixes me) so I guess all I can say is I really like how you both manage to write a blog together and keep it individual.

Definately love the knitting book as it looks lovely. Such a generous giveaway you know. I'll add a link too.

  30. Came here from Rav, and spent ages and ages! I really liked the January article on granny square spread, as I have been meaning to do one for a while, bought some yarn, but just lacked confidence in choosing which colours to put together. Super article.
Thanks to for the chance to win the super book The Knitted Home

  32. Wow.....it always feels great when you hit the one year mark on a blog! Congrats! I would really love to hear more about each of you and love the posts when you take something of little worth (old item) and turn it into a beautiful gem!

I truly would be happy with either giveaway, however would love the knitting one as I already knit and would like to grow that talent.

My name is Mallory and I am 18 years old. I have been sewing and knitting since I was very young, so I totally love you blog on ideas and helpful hints.
Thanks for considering me.... Good luck with your giveaway!

Instead I will choose two posts that have stuck in my mind. The first is The One Week Dress, amazing! The second is Wooly Wonderland, I love the idea. Keep it up ladies.

    The needlecraft book looks fab,
